When both Hallmark and Lifetime film holiday themed movies in your town, you know it is picture perfect for Christmas. Meet Dahlonega,GA, where every year they host an Old FashionedChristmas, complete with carriage rides, Santa, a festival of trees, caroling (in costumes_ and a “magically” lit square.  The celebration goes on until Jan. 9, 2022.
This national historic register town, with its 1800s storefronts and great restaurants, is beautiful anytime, but really sparkles during the Holiday Season.  For 2021, an extended season gives visitors an extra week to experience the town’s Hallmark-esque ambiance encouraging people to spread visits out and keep traffic and crowds to a minimum.
Bedecked in thousands of twinkling lights, a show-stopping two-story Christmas tree on the square and the second annual Festival of Trees with 10-12 brightly decorated Christmas trees on display outside in Hancock Park, the town looks and feels like a holiday wonderland.  Of note, all of the trees used in the Festival of Trees will be wild trees that will be planted at the end of the season. Family-friendly holiday special activities include carriage rides (additional cost), socially-distanced visits with Santa, boutique holiday shopping as Dahlonega’s eclectic selection of merchants offer extended hours and the annual Christmas Market, put on by the Dahlonega Women’s Club, a live nativity, old-time carolers and a holiday show at the historic Holly Theater.

The holidays will be a bit different this year but Panama City Beach is still trying to keep the spirit alive. The Florida community, best known for its 27 miles of sugar white sand beaches and emerald-green waters is offering special themed activities and photo ops for those heading to the beach for the holidays. Don’t forget to bring your pup; Panama City has one of the only dog friendly beaches on the Panhandle.
For instance, Endless Rentals offers custom-built fire pits for a beachside bonfire that is perfect for roasting s’mores and singing Christmas carols. To bring the holiday cheer to a new level, have Chef Derek Langford at Hunt & Gather cater a fine meal. Although the annual Beach Home for the Holiday’s Event is virtual, visitors can still small pictures in front of the 360-foot Christmas tree at Aaron Bessant Park. Stop by the glorious tree and then shop at Pier Park, right next door.
At Panama City Beach you don’t have to miss out on doing snow angles; the soft sand is perfect for making beach angels.

For the past 111 years, the Hotel Boulderado in Boulder, CO. celebrated the holidays with sparkling events and special menus, and that won’t change despite this being a challenging year. The historic property has updated its holiday traditions to ensure the health safety of its staff and guests.
Among the new traditions will be an Italian Christmas with the arrival of the new restaurant pop-up, Trattoria di Boulderado, on the historic mezzanine. The hotel lobby will, of course, sparkle, and a 28-foot white pine Christmas tree will be unveiled on Nov. 16 and remain until the New Year.
To encourage guests to stay at the hotel, special packages are being offered. Among them is the Holiday Charm package that features one light of luxury accommodations, hot cocoa for two from Spruce Farm & Fish and a $50 downtown Boulder gift card.  For those who love the glory of high tea, the hotel will feature a classic tea that includes pastries and sandwiches served with tea or hot chocolate. A children’s tea is also available. If guests prefer a bit of the bubbly, they can order a Kir Royal or a glass of Prosecco.
On Christmas Day guests can enjoy a traditional holiday meal at the hotel or order takeout from Spruce Farm & Fish. The Corner Bar has relaxed holiday fare with seasonal favorites available from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Guests can enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner on the mezzanine overlooking the Christmas Tree through the new Italian restaurant pop-up, Trattoria di Boulderado, from 4p.m. – 8 p.m. A hot and fresh takeout Christmas dinner is available for curbside pick-up through the Pine Street Patio.
The hotel was the first luxury hotel built in Boulder and opened its doors with a gala ball on New Year’s Eve in 1908. The five-story brick building incorporates both Italian Renaissance and Spanish Revival and features an open court. Among its distinguished guests were Douglas Fairbanks Sr., Benny Goodman, Louis Armstrong, Helen Keller and Clarence Darrow. You can even ride the original Otis elevator — it’s still working!   www.boulderado.com
