Looking to enjoy the fall foliage and all the activities that fall brings? Here are three locations where you can get your fall fix:

◼︎ Loudoun County in northern Virginia is a perfect place to explore the county’s six wine clusters. Among the best spots for viewing nature are Bears Den Trail & Overlook, Red Rock Wilderness Overlook Regional Park and Algonkian Regional Park. For thrill seekers, zip through the trees at the Empower Adventures at Salamander Resort & Spa or go to Harpers Ferry Adventure Center for off-road Segway tours or climb high in the aerial adventure park.

◼︎ Northeast  Indiana is a budget-friendly destination to experience the Midwest in the fall. Go to Fort Wayne’s 605-acre Fox Island Park and the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory to admire the native maples in its fall glory. Hike at the Bicentennial Woods, 15 miles of Fort Way and enjoy Promenade Park, the city’s most disability-inclusive park.

  • ◼︎Chickasaw Country is located in the south-center part of Oklahoma and there are a wealth of places to view the fall foliage. Try horse backing riding through Lake Murray’s nature trails or bike around Veteran’s Lake. The Lake of the Arbuckles offers a moment of serenity where visitors can watch as the colorful foliage from the nearby native hardwoods flutter down to the water’s edge. Turner Falls takes you deep into the Arbuckle Mountains where the fall foliage is reflected in the pools below. Don’t forget to stop off for an authentic Chickasaw experience at the Canadian River Company and Rusty Nail Winery.

Taos Ski Valley has added even more activities to its winter roster — in addition to incredibly skiing — that will delight and provide an even more memorable visit for guests.
Taos Ski Valley, located in Taos, N.M., and the world’s only B Corp-certified ski resort, will now offer:
The new Eis Haus ice-skating rink. Skaters of all abilities and ages will enjoy ice-skating in the afternoons and evenings all season long. Large built-in fireplaces with seating adjacent to the ice offer a place for family and friends to watch and socialize after a day on the mountain.
Dinner sleigh ride. Taking place on Friday and Saturday nights, this fun new experience gives family and friends a spectacular way to access the award-winning Bavarian restaurant. Guests relax in a sleigh while they are snow-catted to the mid-mountain restaurant from the main plaza for three-course prix-fixe dinner, complete with wine.
New pro guided mountain experiences. For intermediate-to-experts skiers and riders looking for an adrenaline-pumping adventure that includes hiking, finding secret stashes, and expert advice for Taos’ double-black diamond runs, Taos now offers personal, professional ski and ride guides for a full-day or a half-day. This tailored experience helps skiers and riders make the most of the days on the mountain while offering them insight into the local history, terrain, and region.
Ski Strong™ Gold Medalist Experience. Exclusive to Taos, Olympic Gold Medalist Deb Armstrong will host four, three-day Ski Strong sessions that offer skiers a transformative and thrilling experience. With sessions available for all levels of skiing, this package includes a welcome reception on the first evening and three days of personal ski coaching directly by Armstrong, along with daily lift tickets and equipment rentals.
New dining at The Blake. Colleen and Wilks Medley will manage the restaurant within The Blake to offer a brand-new elevated food and beverage experience. The Medleys’ involvement in the restaurant reinforces the resort’s commitment to maintaining the area’s authenticity and supporting local talent.
Improved snow conditions. Using a new state-of-the-art snowcat, 13 new high-efficiency snow guns, and enhanced snowmaking pipes, Taos will have improved snow conditions all season long on its most popular runs throughout the mountain.
Taos Ski Valley’s opening day is planned for Nov. 25 and will run though April 3, 2022.
